1.5 THE FALL OF THE PROUD
Sincere worship is birthed in humility! Many people seem to interpret humility as having a low opinion of yourself or always talking down about yourself. That is actually false humility. Humility is not about beating yourself up; it is about lifting Jesus higher. We lift Jesus higher through our worship. We can’t literally lift Him higher because He is above everything. Instead, we lift Him higher in our own minds.
When I worship, I take myself off the throne of my life and put Jesus there instead.
This form of worship—offered from a spirit of humility—is only worship if it is directed at the right Person. We must make a commitment today: “I will worship only the one true God.” There is no other God but Jesus, and He alone is worthy of our praise.
