F.I.T. Ushers System

Ushers System

System Owner:

Purpose/Scope:
How our Ushers help protect the attendees at theCrossroads and welcome our guests - while responding to the spiritual needs in the services as lead by Pastor and the ministry. The goal is to remove any barrier that may keep first time guests from enjoying our worship experiences.
  1. Responsibility:
  • Need to be prayerful people.
  • Need to protect the house physically and spiritually!
  • Work in conjunction with the Security Team for emergencies.
  • Overseers of seating sections in the sanctuary.

  1. Procedure:
  • Must be at church one hour before service starts.
  • Receive/review your assignment.
  • Get any equipment needed ready, which will be in the F.I.T. cabinet in the meeting room.
  • Make yourself very familiar with the church app calendar events   and announcements.
  • Pray together with the First Impressions Team.
Be at your post 40 minutes before the WORSHIP service.
When at your posts be focused on why you are there, be extremely aware of any and all guests and their needs, and welcome the church members.
  • Ushers are the first people the guests see as they walk into the sanctuary. Be friendly and outgoing, and SMILE as much as possible!
  • Guests will be introduced (by name) to Ushers by a member of the Greeting Team. Please introduce yourself and use the guest’s name.
  • Show the guests to their seats (please seat them, by asking them if they have a preference of seating). Handing them a connection card and pen (if they are a guest). Seat them with the person that invited them or as close to the front as they are comfortable with - this will keep the back of the sanctuary open seating for those who arrive late.
  • One Usher should assist by checking the lobby for overcrowding and anyone   that may need direction.
  • Ushers should sit on either side of the sanctuary in the back 15 minutes after the service has started and be actively looking for late arriving guests. Be aware of where open seats are. It looks bad if you lead people to seats that have Bibles or purses on them and are not available.
  • Be on the lookout for a family of guests or small groups coming in, you may need to ask members to move over to make room for the incoming guests.
  • If guests leave the sanctuary during the service, especially if they look confused - you should ask them if there is anything you can help them with. Direct them to the restrooms, and nursery for babies. If they need somewhere quiet with a child offer the meeting room. Ushers should know the ages for King’s Kids (4 - 11) and Nursery (infants - 3).
  • When the connection cards are being mentioned, you should be looking around for people who need a pen or card.
  • Be aware during the service if there are several new guests because you may need to help the  Campus Host team make sure ALL guests are greeted, prayed for and with and at the end of service and asked to go meet the Pastor and his wife in Guest Reception area.
  • Your highest priority is the SAFETY of those in attendance, followed by the lead of the Holy Ghost in the service. Please try to stay very in tune with the lead of Pastor or the Guest Minister at all times during the service. You should be available and alert to respond to any and all needs during the service.
  • We prefer Ushers to wear a suit coat or tie on Sunday for Worship. The key is to look crisp and presentable. You will have an F.I.T. Team  Lanyard as well (kept at the church).
  • When you arrive on Sunday morning, always park in the back parking lot, and check the parking lots and lobby during service for security.
  • Also, make sure to watch for signals from Pastor during service (for sound, security, heating/air situations, or any special things he might need).
