Outreach System

System Owner:

Purpose/Scope:
The purpose for the Outreach System is to get everyone on the same page about how we reach out to the community, endeavoring to bring them to Jesus. We will organize at least two or three times throughout the year when we make a big push to get people from the community to see the LOVE IS THE ANSWER and possibly spark interest in them having a relationship with Jesus Christ and linking up with our church family.

Procedure:
  1. In addition to our community based outreaches that are scheduled and ongoing (Project 22:39, Nursing Home, and Feeding America), we try to host 2-3 Big Events every year in an effort to reach out to the community simply by word of mouth (friends, family, etc…).
  2. Plan a rough draft of 3-5 ideas that we could used and the months/times they would work best.
  3. Present the 3-5 ideas at the Fall Vision & Planning session when we are discussing the upcoming year.
  4. Work to make the 2-3 ideas we decide on happen for the following year, working closely with all the necessary teams / systems involved.
  5. Follow up and decide if the ideas are worth repeating or if we should try something else.

Here are some other things we might be able to do in order to get more people to visit theCrossroads:

  • Backslider or Prodigal Outreach
  • An attempt to reach out to all of the backsliders in our area. We get together a list of all the people who have left our churches and send them something in the mail (maybe a small gift, or just a nice card and prayer cloth) for 3-6 consecutive months. Give the list of backsliders to all the prayer team to use with a prayer guide during this time. We want to pray for each person on our list daily/weekly.

  • Kid’s Pick Up on Sunday Outreach
  • This outreach is just like it sounds. The goal is to pick up kids for King’s Kids on Sundays. The thinking is that this will benefit them, and the church might also be able to connect with some of their family along the way. Either way, it is a win-win for the family, kids, and the church. This would have to be coordinated through neighborhoods, and talking to people/parents in the neighborhood prior to Sunday each week. Then permission slips would need to be signed, and contact numbers received – so that a time efficient route could be developed for Sunday. The kids would be picked up on Sunday Morning by 10:30am and deliverd to King’s Kids, they would be delivered back home between 12:15 and 12:45pm. This would also be beneficial to helping get the parents/families to visit for special things they are involved in like Christmas, Easter programs or Big Days.

  •  Block Party for the Community - One great community event is one that is for kids. It doesn’t have to be VBS, but may just be a one-day event to get people together and have fun with the kids. After all, where there are kids, there are also adults! Rent some inflatable toys, host a giveaway (like an iPod or iPad for the adults), provide free drinks and snacks, and let the fun begin.

  • Concert for the Community / Night of Worship
  • Same idea as above for Block Party, but making it more about music, etc…for adults.

  • Prayer Walk
  • The basic idea is to cover an area/neighborhood in prayer before talking to people in that area. This can also be a prayer drive if the weather is bad. The key is to get people involved, and PRAY.
